| Make
it Fun!
Regardless of whether
it's a game or a practice. Football at the youth level should always be
fun! This requires a little creativity on the part of the parent/coach
to offer and adopt fun methods and drills that not only capture the team's
attention, but improves their skills. |
Everyone
Plays!
Flag
football should be an inclusive experience. Because teams only consist
of 10 players, everyone has the opportunity to play.
|
Teach Every Position
to Every Participant
In
order for the athletes to develop experience and a full appreciation
for the game. We encourage all programs to teach everyone every position.
|
Emphasize the Fundamentals
Build
a strong foundation! Learning the fundamentals and perfecting the same
basics at every level of play is essential to having any chance of success.
|
Provide a Progression
of Skill Development for Every Participant
If
kids experience improvement in their skills, no matter what their athletic
ability may be, they will continue to participate and return to learn
more.
|
Yell Encouragement,
Whisper Constructive Criticism
Keep
it positive. Every athlete needs feedback on how to correct their mistakes
and build skills, but you can do it with positive encouragement!
